2012 MFXC Course Description

Welcome Jerks, this is MFXC-three-2012.  The 2012 course is finalized, please see the GPS track and route description below.  The course for this year is quite exciting, 37 miles long with approx 3,400 ft of climbing.  There will be two manned and two-unmanned water / aid stations along the route for your convenience.

GPS Track Here.

Course Description:

This year we start and finish from the Wild Boar Campground at Council Bluff Recreation Area.  We encourage camping Saturday night before the race as the conditions at CBL are quite comfortable.  Let's get this straight, there is no charge to non-race but there is a charge for camping AND parking. Day parking is $3 per car and campsites range from $10 to $25 per night.  Obviously you're not paying us you are paying the campground people for their very nice facilities. Pay the yellow pipe at the front as you enter the campground. These fees are mandatory for all non-racers and are quite reasonable as well.

This non-race is 37 miles total, approx 29 miles of singletrack and 8 miles of fast, rolling gravel in the middle.

Start: Begin near the field. Down the asphalt hill you go, hitting the singletrack at the bottom and turning right at the lake.  Go straight past the bridge onto the OT connector, proceeding onto The Middlefork trail.
1st landmark, HWY 32 & DD trailhead: 5.4 miles in (unmanned water station here).  Continue on MF singletrack, accending 5 climbs reaching aid station #1 at the second gravel road you reach, Brooks Creek Rd, 12.2 miles in. Continue on MF for two more burly singletrack climbs to Barton Fen, mile 17.

Time for 8 miles of gravel.  At bottom of huge singletrack decent (worth the admission price) turn left on CR79, continue for a few miles.  Veer right onto CR74 for a few miles, at Monty's Cock Farm turn left up CR 71, the huge gravel climb known as "chickens."  Cross directly over HWY 49 (asspahlt) and then down "Mt. Gravel."  At bottom of hill TURN LEFT onto Brooks Creek Rd INSTEAD of crossing the low water bridge as we have done in past years.  Continue for a few miles reaching Aid Station 2 (same location as aid station 1) at mile 25.
Turn right onto MF Singletrack, it is 12 miles back to CBL for the finish.  Unmanned water station again at DD/32, 7 miles from aid station 2.  It is then another 5 miles of singletrack back to CBL where non-racers will finish on the singletrack climb utilized on the Burnin Course, finish line in the field.
 Fuck Yes.
